PSC Deploys Ogbeghagha as New Taraba Police Commissioner
The Police Service Commission has approved the deployment of Commissioner of Police Edwin Ogbeghagha as the new Commissioner of Police for the Taraba State Command, handing him the responsibility of leading security operations in the state as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ogbeghagha takes over the command at a period when maintaining security, preventing crime and ensuring political neutrality are expected to remain major priorities for law enforcement agencies.
The Commission announced his deployment on September 2, 2026, following an interview session at its corporate headquarters in Jabi, Abuja.

Over 25 Years of Policing Experience
Ogbeghagha arrives in Taraba with more than 25 years of policing experience and a career spanning several operational and command responsibilities.
A graduate of the University of Ibadan, he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in 1990 before building a career in the Nigeria Police Force.
His previous assignments include serving as Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations in Zones 8 and 17.
He has also served as Area Commander in Enugu, Abia and Anambra states.
At the Force Headquarters, Ogbeghagha served as Commissioner of Police in charge of Community Policing, adding another dimension to his experience in security administration.
Before his latest deployment to Taraba, he was the Force Provost Marshal at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, a position he had occupied since March 2026.
International Peacekeeping Experience
Ogbeghagha’s career also extends beyond Nigeria.
He participated in United Nations peacekeeping operations, serving in Kosovo between 2000 and 2002.
He later served in Darfur, Sudan, between 2013 and 2016.
His combination of domestic command experience and international peacekeeping exposure is expected to shape his leadership of the Taraba State Police Command.
