Ussa Chairman Appoints 20 SSAs, Scraps PA Office
The Executive Chairman of Ussa Local Government Council, Hon. Abershi Musa, has approved the appointment of 20 Senior Special Assistants, introducing another round of appointments as his administration moves to strengthen its grassroots operations.
The appointments, described as Batch C, take immediate effect.
In a separate administrative shake-up, the council chairman also scrapped the Office of the Personal Assistant to the Executive Chairman, transferring its responsibilities to the Special Assistant on Domestic Affairs.
The newly appointed officials have been directed to report for documentation on Thursday, September 10, 2026.
20 New SSAs Join Ussa Administration
The appointments were announced in a statement issued by the Corporate Communication Unit of Ussa Local Government Council.
According to the council, the decision forms part of efforts by the chairman’s administration to ensure residents benefit from government programmes and projects.
The council also linked the appointments to the Moving Forward Agenda of Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas.

PA Office Scrapped
Beyond the appointments, Abershi approved a significant change within his office by abolishing the position of Personal Assistant to the Executive Chairman.
Under the new arrangement, responsibilities previously handled by the PA’s office will be taken over by the Special Assistant on Domestic Affairs.
The restructuring effectively removes one office while redistributing its functions within the chairman’s administrative team.
Appointees Get September 10 Deadline
All Batch C appointees have been directed to report to the Office of the Secretary, Ussa Local Government Council, on Thursday, September 10, 2026, for documentation.
The exercise is expected to formalise their appointments and prepare them to begin their respective responsibilities.
With the appointments taking immediate effect, the new aides are expected to become part of the council administration’s efforts to strengthen its engagement with communities across Ussa.
Chairman Demands Integrity, Service
Abershi congratulated the appointees but made it clear that their appointments come with responsibilities.
He charged them to carry out their duties with dedication, integrity and selfless service to the people of Ussa Local Government Area.
The chairman said his administration would continue working to ensure that residents benefit from programmes and initiatives of the Taraba State Government.
For the newly appointed officials, the challenge will therefore extend beyond receiving political appointments to demonstrating how their respective roles contribute to effective governance and service delivery.
Youths Urged to Grab Opportunities
Abershi also encouraged young people across Ussa to take advantage of empowerment opportunities being provided by the Kefas administration.
He highlighted opportunities including overseas scholarship programmes, skills acquisition initiatives and financial grants aimed at improving the socio-economic conditions of beneficiaries.
The chairman’s message places youth empowerment among the areas his administration wants residents to explore as it strengthens its relationship with the state government.
Bigger Team, Bigger Expectations
The addition of 20 Senior Special Assistants significantly expands the number of officials working with the council chairman under the Batch C appointments.
For residents, however, the ultimate measure of the appointments will not simply be the number of political aides appointed.
