LAGOS, Nigeria Music executive and former manager of the defunct P-Square group, Jude Okoye, has publicly responded to allegations made by his younger brother, Peter Okoye, denying claims that he diverted music royalties or engaged in financial misconduct.

In a video statement released on social media, Jude described the accusations as misleading and emotionally driven. He maintained that the ongoing disagreement over the group’s finances is already before a competent court and should be resolved through the legal process rather than public exchanges.
The latest development marks another chapter in the long-running dispute involving the Okoye brothers, whose musical partnership as P-Square made them one of Africa’s most successful music acts before internal disagreements led to repeated separations.
Jude’s Response

Speaking directly to supporters and critics, Jude rejected allegations that he secretly controlled or diverted royalties belonging to Peter. He argued that all financial dealings during the period he managed the group were carried out through recognized business structures and documented agreements.

According to him, several of the claims currently circulating on social media do not reflect the full facts of the matter. He insisted that evidence relating to the management of the group’s earnings and business operations exists and will be properly examined through legal proceedings.

Jude also appealed to the public to avoid reaching conclusions before the courts have considered all available evidence. The disagreement between the Okoye brothers has resurfaced in recent months following allegations by Peter Okoye concerning the handling of music royalties and company finances.

Peter has alleged that there were irregularities in the management of revenue generated by the P-Square brand. These allegations have generated widespread discussion across social media platforms, with fans expressing divided opinions over who bears responsibility for the breakdown in trust within the family.

Jude’s latest statement represents his most detailed public response to the allegations.
Legal Process Takes Centre Stage
One of the key points emphasized by Jude is that the matter remains subject to legal proceedings. He argued that public commentary should not replace the judicial process and urged observers to allow the courts to determine the facts.
Legal experts generally advise parties involved in active disputes to exercise caution in making public statements, particularly when issues relating to financial transactions and contractual obligations are already before the courts.
Until a judicial decision is reached, allegations and counter-allegations remain claims made by the respective parties.

The dispute has continued to dominate conversations across Nigerian entertainment circles, with fans expressing mixed reactions online.
Some supporters believe the brothers should prioritize reconciliation and settle their differences privately, considering the legacy they built together as P-Square. Others argue that transparency and accountability are important whenever financial allegations are made, regardless of family relationships.
Entertainment analysts note that the prolonged disagreement has overshadowed discussions about the brothers’ musical achievements and continues to attract significant public attention whenever new statements emerge.

The Importance of Verifying Claims
While social media has accelerated the spread of information surrounding the dispute, it has also contributed to the circulation of unverified claims and edited video clips taken out of context.

Fact-checkers advise the public to distinguish between verified information, official statements, and opinions expressed online. Court filings, official documents, and direct statements from the parties involved provide more reliable sources than anonymous social media posts or speculative commentary.
As legal proceedings continue, any definitive conclusions regarding financial responsibility or alleged misconduct will depend on evidence presented before the court.

The ongoing legal process is expected to clarify several issues surrounding royalty management, business operations, and contractual arrangements connected to the P-Square brand.

For now, Jude Okoye maintains that he has acted lawfully and has denied all allegations of diverting royalties. Peter Okoye, on the other hand, has continued to insist that his concerns deserve judicial scrutiny.
Whether the dispute ultimately ends through a court judgment, mediation, or a family reconciliation remains uncertain. What is clear is that the controversy continues to attract national attention, reflecting both the enduring popularity of P-Square and the public interest in the outcome of the case.
